About This Spot
Walking into The Palace Cafe feels like stepping into a cherished corner of small-town America, where time slows just enough to savor the simple joys of good food and warm conversation. This intimate, shotgun-style diner blends a retro vibe with genuine hospitality, inviting visitors to settle in whether for a quiet morning coffee or a hearty evening meal shared with friends.
The rhythm here is unhurried, each moment shaped by the easy-going hum of regulars and newcomers alike. The sturdy wooden bar and booths offer a familiar backdrop as servers move with thoughtful care, making sure every visit feels personal. It’s the kind of place where the staff knows your name—or will by the second visit—and where stories quietly weave through the clinking of cups and the sizzle of the grill.
At The Palace Cafe, the menu is less a list and more a reflection of comfort and thoughtful craftsmanship. Whether it’s the satisfying warmth of a cheese omelet or the playful surprise of a grilled pineapple slice nestled in a sandwich, each bite invites a small discovery. Burgers are crafted with care, sandwiches carry the quiet soul of classic diner fare, and salads bring a refreshing balance to the table. The house specialties—like their unique takes on Spam or the locally beloved Reuben—speak to a kitchen that honors tradition while welcoming a touch of whimsy.
This is a place that catches the rhythm of the community, a spot where early risers can grab breakfast before work and night owls can slowly unwind over comfort food. The atmosphere carries a sense of shared moments—whether it’s a routine weekday meal or a milestone marked quietly over coffee and cake. The Palace Cafe isn’t just where you eat; it’s where you become part of a local story unfolding one genuine moment at a time.

Food is excellent. They will even make items not on the menu. Tom’s homemade spam it wonderful! Try his Royal Spam sandwich … made to order with a grilled pineapple slice. With a grilled pineapple slice, it could be called the Hawaiian Todd sandwich… Tom and Emily really take care of their new and frequent customers.

The Palace is an excellent little establishment that has a unique feel that captures the real feel of a "retro" diner. It is a shotgun style building, so seating capacity is a bit limited with the emphasis really being on the bar side of things. The cheeseburger I got was really quite tasty, and the speed wasn't too terrible, though a little on the slower side. Expect around a 20-30 minute wait time is what we found out. Our waitress was a little absent from us, but we were sitting a table and not at the bar where it seems the focus is mainly at. Overall a cool atmosphere and decent food for a mom and pop store. I would go back if I was looking for a small place to eat at in the area.

Stopped in on our trip from Olney, Il. The staff was super friendly, the food was great. We both had cheese burger and fries fixed just the way we ask. Inside is cute and clean! The owner also gave us a short history of the place, which I always think is cool to know. If you are in Prinston, Indiana looking for a place to stop for a bite, I highly suggest you try them out. Reasonable prices, good food, and friendly staff.

I am in love with their bacon, bisuits and gravy. They are my favorite and worth going just for those.
